Sakhalin plans to produce fuel from gas condensate
A project for the production of gasoline, diesel fuel and jet fuel from gas condensate is being discussed in the Sakhalin Region. Governor of the region Valery Limarenko and Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of PJSC Gazprom Vitaly Markelov signed an agreement on cooperation in this area.
As IAA EastRussia was informed in the press service of the Sakhalin government, the regional government will engage in a technical and economic analysis of the project. Based on its results, the parties will determine the possible configurations of the plant, the main technical and technological parameters and assess the economic feasibility.
According to Valery Limarenko, due to the implementation of this project, fuel prices will become more affordable for car owners.
“Now the price of fuel is determined by factors that we cannot influence. These include prices on the wholesale market and shipping costs. Another important aspect is that our aviation can be provided with locally produced kerosene, ”he explained.
This week, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave a number of instructions concerning, among other things, the Sakhalin Region. Thus, by November 1, the Russian government, Gazprom and the regional authorities must prepare a report on the creation of a fuel production from gas condensate in Sakhalin.
